Work tension makes Jesus’ team irritable and frustrated. When parents of healthy children turn up to see him, they push them away. The work of the kingdom is too important for such distractions. Jesus, however, takes the very opposite view. He has come to save any who look to him for blessing, no matter what they can offer. The disciples need, once more, to lose their sinful pride and live humbly by faith in God. They need to become as ‘insignificant’ as the children they would drive away.
