Sermon Summary - Sunday 8 January 2023

Main Bible passage:  Mark 16:1-8

Sabbath has passed, a new week begins and on it God blows life into the new creation. The women who go to honour Jesus’ corpse, find the tomb unlocked and a stranger present. They came to find a crucified man, but Jesus is fully alive. He has not, however, remained in Jerusalem. Those days are done and the resurrected Lord is moving on to new things. One phase of history is drawing to a close, but a new and eternal phase is beginning. Though that may worry the women because it’s so different, it is also thrillingly exciting. Mark’s gospel may closing but the best is yet to come.
