Sermon Summary - Sunday 28 August 2022

Main Bible passage:  Mark 14:53-61

In the darkness of night, away from the city, following a violence encounter, in the hands of armed enemies and with no support, Jesus could meet his end. However, it will not be so. His opponents – Israel’s leaders – want him condemned legally and executed by their Gentile overlords; he’s too tricky a problem to deal with any other way. But it’s hard to lay a charge on him when no evidence exists and he refuses to speak to his captors. This leads to frustration when he appears in the council room, until the High Priests says out loud what everyone has been thinking. Sometimes nothing is all we need to say.
