Sermon Summary - Sunday 10 October 2021

Main Bible passage:  Mark 9:9-19

Our finest moments in life sometimes feel spoiled by disappointment at the end. So it is for Jesus’ 3 close disciples: Peter, James and John. They have seen Jesus transfigured with glory on the mountain and had their hopes raised high. But as they descend to normal life, they meet with argument, despair and unbelief. This is the road which Jesus invites us to walk with him through this world, where we feel we carry a cross to failure rather than stride on to victory. However, the Christian life’s regular disappointments should not bring despair but prayer, for perseverance in our faith. The end of our road is glorious, infinitely greater than even our highest expectations.
