Sermon Summary - Sunday 25 July 2021

Main Bible passage:  Mark 8:1-10

Still outside of Israel, Jesus’ behaviour is not like at home. He is not yet these people’s king. Nonetheless, he has compassion on a large crowd of them after 3 days together. He has food but they do not, so he decides to share it with them. The disciples are confused by this, not expecting him to behave as he did with the 5000 men of Mark 6. But though there are similarities with that occasion, there are also important differences. Jesus continues to prioritise the people of Israel in line with his Father’s plan. That won’t, however, prevent him from showing kindness to others. Such kindness is to be the character of Christians.
