Sermon Summary - Sunday 7 March 2021

Main Bible passage:  Mark 5:21-34

On the far shore, Jesus met a man who fell before him and pleaded with him. Now he meets the same back in Judea. However, this next troubled man is very different: a respectable leader from the local synagogue who has a dying daughter. But en route to the girl, Jesus halts when he senses that someone in deep need has quietly reached to touch him. This is a mature woman whose illness has exhausted her funds and left her isolated in society – she too is desperate for help and Jesus tenderly gives it. Mark intertwines these two stories, showing us how the events taught the disciples more about their gracious king and more about the wide welcome his kingdom offers to all who will place their faith in him.
