The sermon in today’s service looks at the topic of the gospels in the Bible. We have four: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The first three have lots of similarities and are referred to as the ‘synoptics’. Yet there are noticeable differences too, for example: the number of demoniacs Jesus’ meets when he crosses Lake Galilee in Mark 5 (1 man) and Matthew 8 (2 men). How are Christians to think about those differences? How do they affect our reading of the Bible? It’s important to think about questions like these so that we trust the Bible completely and appreciate all its richness
