Jesus has healed a vulnerable man whose suffering with mental illness has been extreme and whose life has been abused by evil spirits. Now, this man is at peace, sitting with Jesus, wanting to learn and grow. Indeed, he’d love to join Jesus’ team back in Judea but that’s not possible yet. What he can do is tell others in his own homeland about all that Jesus has done for him. The locals, however, are frightened by Jesus. Though they can see the good effect he’s had, his authority and power troubles them – what demands might be placed on them if they keep him around? So they ask Jesus to leave. But the man made well tells all and sundry about the grace shown to him by Christ.
