Jesus’ kingdom is not like others. His route as king is very different from that of other world leaders. This confuses many. His family fear for his choices and think him mad. Officials from Jerusalem are bothered by his actions and think him bad. The latter group even accuse him of working with the Devil. Jesus responds by analysing their nonsense, before warning them of the road they are on. If they continue this way, they will end up slandering God’s Holy Spirit – something they really don’t want to do! But God is patient and gracious: there is still time for them to admit how they’ve misunderstood Jesus, apologise and turn.
