Sermon Summary - Sunday 13 December 2020

Main Bible passage:  Mark 3:7-19

Jesus could so easily become a king in the normal way, given the size of the crowds who are flooding to him and the power he appears to wield. Yet his kingdom is not of this world. So he does not seek celebrity status but, instead, shows humility in his actions and reactions. Stepping away from the crowds, he gathers his select band of twelve to him and forms the foundation of his reborn Israel. It will be a nation created by the power of the Holy Spirit not by the schemes and techniques of humanity. Outwardly his plan and his choices look hare-brained. In reality, God is at work to build his everlasting kingdom and Jesus trusts his Father to do all things well.
