    It was the Sabbath.
    But the elders were angry.
    Their rules had been broken,
    by Jesus and his disciples.
    “They pick corn!” they said.
    “He heals!” they moaned.
    But Jesus knew better.
    Their rules ruined the Sabbath.
    He showed them with questions.
    “Is the Sabbath for good?”
    “Or is it for evil?”
    “Should I save today?”
    “Or should I kill?”
    The elders got more angry.
    Jesus was right.
    The Sabbath is for good.
    It’s for kindness not anger.
    Jesus lived that way.
