Sermon Summary - Sunday 29 December 2024

Main Bible passage:  1 Samuel 27:8-28:2

To secure peace for himself, his family and his army, David has had to go and live among his enemies, the Philistines. It’s a bold plan which requires David to conduct himself shrewdly. But he pulls it off, managing both to benefit Israel through the defeat of her enemies whilst convincing the local Philistine ruler that he’s on his side and an Israelite rebel. Glorifying God in the puzzling and complex situations of life is often hard. But we must persevere in doing so. And we must be grateful that we belong to a kingdom where such tactics are not needed: the eternal kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
