Saul sees that David has spared his life again, admits his sin and calls David home. But times have changed and David can no longer be with Saul. He’ll only go home when it’s time for him to take the throne of Israel. So he honours Saul as king but no longer obeys his commands. Then, with maturity and a wise strategy, David settles in another land and Saul gives up the chase. There are points in life where change has to come. They are not always easy but can be handled well if we seek to honour the Lord in the midst of them.
