David is on a mission to kill and no man can stop him! So the Lord doesn’t send a man but a courageous woman, Abigail, who helps David to see he must not stain his hands with innocent blood in his anger. Her gift of food and a remarkably wise speech centred on the Lord and his promises, powerfully drains the anger from David’s heart. So he blesses the Lord for giving her and blesses Abigail for all she has done to bring peace. The Lord then upholds her words. We need help in this world and must value deeply those given to us for that purpose, no matter how they may look to others.
