David is very angry. A wealthy neighbour, called Nabal, has rudely rebuffed his approach for fellowship. So now he’s going to pay him and his estate back with violence! However, Abigail – Nabal’s wife – takes her life in her hands and goes to meet David on his way. Abigail readily admits that Nabal is a fool. But she pleads with David not to be tempted into sin: let the Lord deal with the fool. It’s an encounter which David didn’t expect with a woman who has had to learn how to manage a very dysfunctional marriage. For Christians, there are lessons to be learned from this brave woman’s story.
