Sermon Summary - Sunday 16 June 2024

Main Bible passage:  1 Samuel 20:35-42

Jonathan now knows his father’s murderous plans towards David. So he must warn him and then they must part. But that is so painful. Jonathan loves his friend as a brother and would happily serve under him, yet must remain with Saul. David, likewise, would rather be where Jonathan is, but that is too dangerous. So an emotional scene plays out as they say farewell to one another. A scene which can help us think about the remarkable nature of the emotions which God has given to us and how they should be used.

Brief notes on this passage are also sent out in daily emails during the week after the sermon. An archive of these may be read on a separate website: press here to go to the first one from this passage or press here to read the introduction to the notes, which are entitled “Think of the King“.
