Sermon Summary - Sunday 5 November 2023

Main Bible passage:  1 Samuel 14:1-15

Jonathan could have been left downhearted by his father’s sin and the trouble it’s brought to him. But he actually acts boldly, going quietly with one servant to challenge the enemies of the nation. It looks hopeless. One sword against twenty. A valley of death to cross. Guard posts all around. Yet Jonathan is victorious thanks to the power of the Lord. Not that he arrogantly presumes upon victory. Rather he has humble trust in the Lord to do what is best and so takes the risk. This is a right attitude for those who know the Lord.
