Sermon Summary - Sunday 6 December 2020

Main Bible passage:  Mark 2:23-3:6

Jesus can do nothing for his opponents until they are willing to open their minds, because they are trapped by their traditions and rules. This is now demonstrated by a clash over the keeping of the Sabbath day of rest. They have a rule-book which tells them what to do. Jesus, using the Bible, understands God’s principles within the day and keeps it much better. He is the Sabbath’s master and brings out blessing from it; they are its slaves. Their attitude gives them a harsh spirit which, when challenged by Jesus, isn’t repented of but instead leads them to hatred and murder.
